The logic behind denying peak oil explains other things too. Initially planning for and maintaining only enough force in Iraq to ensure a quagmire has already sequestered the oil there. You can't use it if you can't get to it without being blown up. Since the invasion of Iraq, how much more valuable, in dollar terms, has that oil become? Lots.
