DIVx --- analog copy protection? They are advertising analog copy protection... if I have an analog NTSC signal .... how are they going to stop me from recording it on video tape... or converting it digital and encoding it into MPEG-2 format? If it can be displayed on a normal T.V.; it can be recorded; compressed and sent to Timbuktu...the industry is frightened, but their tactics are going to be for not... Also, they say...Consumers who purchase Divx players will establish an account with Divx for billing of any additional disc rentals beyond the initial purchase and any rental disc conversions to unlimited viewing... ...these are powerful ... don't underestimate them... through their lawyers and their conspiracies, they thwart technology... remember they basically banished dual video decks... Go Video only exists as a matter of principal... they will do everything to control our technology and our future... but in the end ......... their consumer electronics monopolies will take a second place to the pure decentralized digital future which they will be unable to derail...and besides...I will continue to watch my movies in the theater...my DVD player/recorder will be used for far greater purposes than simple entertainment...
