The hypocrisy by lib politicians is nearly matched by the hypocrisy of the MSM.

As Shameless As They Wanna Be

-- Lorie Byrd
PoliPundit.com

When I read the following from the Reliapundit, it floored me.

<<<

Many Lefties and Democrats - like Senators Boxer and Rockefeller and Dodd and Feingold and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Pelosi and DNC Chairman Howeird Dean - have critized Bush’s speech last might because it - in their opinion - incorrectly conflated 9/11 & al Qaeda with Saddam and Iraq, AND incorrectly argued that the War in Iraq is-or-ever-was part of the GWOT.

They further argued that Bush was cynically USING 9/11 to shore up public support for him and the war in Iraq.

What is so mind boggling to me is that both 9/11 and al Qaeda WERE IN THE ORIGINAL RESOLUTION CONGRESS PASSED TO AUTHORIZE THE WAR.

I quote:

PARAGRAPHS #10, 11 and 12 - (AS PASSED):

<<<
    ” … Whereas members of al Qaida, an organization bearing
responsibility for attacks on the United States, its
citizens, and interests, including the attacks that
occurred on September 11, 2001, are known to be in Iraq;
     Whereas Iraq continues to aid and harbor other
international terrorist organizations, including
organizations that threaten the lives and safety of
United States citizens;
     Whereas the attacks on the United States of September
11, 2001, underscored the gravity of the threat posed by
the acquisition of weapons of mass destruction by
international terrorist organizations; …”
Read the entire post – this excerpt is only the beginning (link below).

My first thought after reading about the resolution was amazement (although I should be used to it by now) at the shameless way that Democrats have accused Bush of lying about something they themselves believed to be true. But this is hardly anything new. Look at all the people, including Bill Clinton, John Kerry and Al Gore, who stated that Saddam had WMD. Democrats accuse Bush everyday of lying about Saddam having WMD, but say nothing about Dems who were saying the same thing.

The second thought I had was that Democrat politicians can be as shameless as they want to be as long as journalists continue to refuse to do their jobs. Did even one journalist point out what Reliapundit did about what was contained in the congressional resolution when Democrats went on the attack about the mention of 9/11 in the President’s speech about Iraq? I certainly didn’t hear any.

More on the subject of 9/11 and Iraq here and here.

UPDATE: I wrote the post above before reading Mark Levin’s comments at NRO. He didn’t hear any journalists ask any Democrats about the congressional resolution either. It is a shame that the media can’t be sued for malpractice. They should be very ashamed and when/if they get a clue about what was in the resolution, they should do a new story on it exposing the hypocrisy of some of those they interveiwed Tuesday night.
