This is the neocon party line I find baffling .....

.......... "seems democrats forget they authorized and supported going into Iraq."

Message 21463115

The frenzy Bush worked up in the late summer of 2002 was utterly astonishing. Anyone who didn't grant him the "war powers” he so desperately demanded was branded a traitor. Was that so long ago that people don't realize the political climate of that time?

This is clearly the Republicans' war. The Democrats signed up for it with the barrel of a gun pointed at their heads. Granted, numerous Democrats, including John Kerry, have limited their criticism largely to questioning the tactics at this point. But, it should be observed that no Democrat of whom I'm aware suggested invading Iraq without a strong international coalition and only after the UN had completed its search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

The Democrats were trapped by Bush. One other problem that the Democrats faced at the time--and still do, to a degree--is that Bush has deceived the public into believing that the attack had merit. He still tries to fool the public on that point. The Democrats' main problem in the current political scene is that the public has been duped and remains rather ignorant. It limits the intelligence of the debate.

"Support the troops. Bring them home."
