Real Estate is local and so too will be its affects. Yes, there will be a multiplier effect across the economy given the extent of the bubble, but for the most part, I expect bubble areas to have severe downturns that will affect local economies far greater than the national.

Now if Fed policy is directed toward bubble areas, then there is probably amazing opportunity available in some non-bubble areas with decent economies.

However, I consider non-bubble areas to be like good stocks in a bear market. Quite simply, it will be very hard to make money in this asset class and some will lose big.
