Jimmy Carter was involved in the middle of the biggest destructive cut in U.S. military forces post Vietnam without any reasonable consideration to existing international conditions. The students took the US embassy becasue the Shah was receiving medical treatment in NY. One of the hostage takers is now President of Iran.
