That's not true. Reagan had a deal with the Iranians. Which later morphed into the Iran-Contra deals, trading high-grade weapons to the Iranians for hostages. You are very naive if you think Reagan was too scary coming into office. In fact, he was in league with guys like Khashoggi who could make insider deals with the Iranians. Deals of mutual convenience despite the unethical nature of them. Bush is also unethical, but Reagan apoliogized later for Iran-Contra. Bush has let to apologize for anything. Carter was not a great president but you blame him too much for what was already happening as he was coming into power. Why no blame for Ford? Nobody ever mentions Ford. But the Shah was toppling while he was in power.
