Is MS trying to say this is new? IBM has long sold an
upgrade to the AS/400 that lets it run NetWare, NT, or
OS/2. Essentially it's a PC on an expansion card. The
PC has access to the AS/400 disk and other peripherals.

The main use of this is to run gateway products like
NetWare for SAA, MS's SNA server, or IBM's OS/2-based
SNA gateway. Most customers prefer to run this software
on a stand alone PC, however, since IBM's solution is
about 5x as expensive. The new AS/400e model comes with
the card bundled.
