You might be right about the USSR. Nothing stokes the fires of competition like a big old enemy to galvanize a nation. That is my secret hope. Now that our new enemy is the Middle East and it's oil kingpins, maybe that will stoke the fires of innovation around technologies to get us off the oil once and for all. Dude, there are Americans dying so that your secret hope can be realized. There are people horribly maimed who must live the rest of their lives without an arm or a leg or an ear so you can realize your dream.......a nation without the need for oil. I am curious...........does their deaths and impairments make any impression on you? Do they have impact on your thinking at all?
