- Know what you play and play what you know.
- Press your bet when winning, never when losing. Reduce your bet when losing.
- Craps has the best odds (lowest house edge) when played correctly, especially when the player can take advantage of 10x or higher odds bets. Baccarat also has a minimal house advantage, but it's a damn boring game unless you like flipping a coin.
- Never reach into your pocket if you lose your bankroll at a session. Walk away, play something else, people watch... anything, but walk away and come back later.
- Respect your gut instincts, particularly when they are negative.
- Never play blackjack with a bad player sitting in the anchor position.
- Tip the dealers occasionally when you win, particularly in a fast-paced craps game. They will look out for you if you do.
- In craps, use place bets instead of come bets if you cannot get better than double-odds. Place bets pay almost identical odds as a flat bet with double odds, and better than a flat bet with single odds.
And, my personal beliefs that have not basis in science:
- Winning tends to happen in streaks. Honor the trend line until it clearly breaks. This applies to all games.
If it's Bank, bet on Bank again. If it's Red, bet on Red again. If it's Odd, bet on Odd again. If a shooter is hot, press your bets. If a slot paid a nice jackpot, keep playing that slot. (Why keep pouring money chasing a jackpot into a machine that has not paying a jackpot? Because it's "due"? Fuggedaboudit!)
- Do not switch sides during play. You'll get whipsawed so fast you'll never know what hit you. |
