They are just the excuse. Only if you have a persecution complex. I am reminded of the joke about Irish Alzheimer's -- you forget everything but the grudge. If all you want out of life is unconditional love and admiration, you're going to be sorely disappointed. On the other hand, when people and institutions we formerly respected all of a sudden have critical things to say, one might dismiss the criticism as persecution, or one might recall that once not so long ago we valued their opinion, and listen to what they have to say.
