So you haven't actually read the poll. If so, you'd know that 25% of Republicans say that if he lied he should be impeached. A large number of independents say that too. Now true, these affiliations are self-described so they could be lying. But to do so consistently would mean that there is some kind of organized push behind it. And that is something that, at least so far, seems to only exist on the Web.

I don't know how old you are, but this is precisely how the drive to impeach Nixon started, complete with your list of reasons(save point 2, but Nixon had a point that it was later in his term and Congress didn't have much time to get their act together) why it won't happen. I know because I wrote a paper on why Nixon wouldn't be impeached back in those halcyon days...

Now this isn't to say impeachment is a slam-dunk. But it isn't totally off the table.
