Doug is president of Billy Martin's USA, Inc. He has been chief executive and guiding spirit of the retail company since he and Billy founded it in New York City 1978. Billy retired from the business in 1982.
From 1976 to 1988, he headed Yankee One Management, Inc., a sports management company in New York, NY whose exclusive clients included Roger Maris, Sparky Lyle, Whitey Ford, Phil Rizzuto, and Billy Martin. For six years, Doug was Billy’s agent and business manager, negotiating his contract(s) with George Steinbrenner (NY Yankees), and Charley Finley (Oakland A’s), and his commercials for Miller Lite Beer. Prior to Yankee One, he began his career at Benton & Bowles, Inc., in their account management training program. He later became asst.
