Re: US bases in Iraq are not permanent. The second any Iraqi government requests that they be removed, they will be removed. It happened in the Philippines, it happened in Saudi Arabia. As far as I know the only place where the US has bases that the local government objects to is.....Cuba! Also in Okinawa. You are naive to think that the U.S. bases are not intended to be permanent. No Iraqi government will be allowed that won't sign the usual basing agreements that the U.S. demands of its colonies and client states. For a clearheaded understanding of U.S. basing policy, I highly recommend the writings of Chalmer Johnson, a retired UCSD prof with a history in the U.S. military and spook trade: peaceredding.org
