From The Left Coaster:

As I remember, Rove is on record as having told the FBI that he called a couple of reporters about Plame, but only after Novak's article appeared. If the emails Time turned over to Fitzgerald show that Rove was discussing the Plame affair with Cooper before Novak outed her, then Rove is caught by 18 U.S.C. sec. 1001, which makes it a crime (punishable by up to five years in jail) "knowingly and willfully" to make a "materially false...statement" "in any matter within the jurisdiction...of the Government of the United States."

This "false statement" crime is much, much easier to prove than perjury or obstruction of justice (you can get sent away if you give an FBI agent a false name when he comes to your door to ask questions) -- as Martha Stewart discovered to her surprise.

If the Cooper emails show Rove lied to the FBI, Turdblossom is going to spend some time in the Crossbar Hotel. Who will the cowardly little bastard take down with him so he can get put in the minimum security work camp?
