Not to put words in your mouth, but I think what you intended to convey with the "nouveau riche" comment was that most of the posters here, whatever their economic cirumstances, did not live through the depression and the privations of that period. We, therefore, don't have the outlook on life and economics that those who lived through the Great Depression have.

My grandmother was newly married during the depression years and she didn't talk about it much when I was a child. I can only conclude that those years were not as difficult for her as they were for others.

My wife's father's family, on the other hand, had owned large tracts of property in San Diego, and lost it all. I've heard a lot about that from her side off the family.

Beautiful Sunday here - 65 now, going up to a high of 84 or so. I need to get back to my weekend project of automating my sprinklers.
