Since when was Jesus pro-war, pro-pollution and pro-rich?
"Pro-war" might be your best argument with "turn the other cheek", and "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword."
OTOH there is also - "Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough."
And there is the violent action against the money changers in the temple. Not apparently deadly action but it does seem that Jesus wasn't a total pacifist.
As for "pro-pollution" and "pro-rich" those aren't the issues. No one is "pro-pollution", and most aren't "pro-rich". People are instead for freedom and property rights and a prosperous economy, rather then socialism or overly aggressive environmental regulation.
I don't think Jesus ever called for extensive regulation and aggressive bureaucracy. He also asked people to give to the poor, not to take from others to give to the poor.
In any case do you want a secular country or are you arguing that all of our political decisions should be based on Jesus' teachings, or your opinions about them? |
