Schlitz ...hired some new brewmaster and the beer went straight down the tubes..

After Nixon lifted price controls, Schlitz margins went to hell. They switched from barley malt to corn sugar and lost their base. Tried to revert a couple years later, but never recovered, eventually sold to Stroh's.
