Adams' nasty comments about Tom Paine were subsequent to Paine's ardent defense of the French Revolution, and provoked by Paine's rejection of Christianity, The Age of Reason, both of which caused him to be less than welcome on two continents.

But comparing Tom Paine to Michael Moore? Someone wash that man's mouth out with soap -- preferably Lava.
