Using your argument one could say that one should not double down on 11 against a ten either because (obviously) I should draw against a ten if I get a 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16 because drawing would be the "best play". But I don't think you would argue that one should not double 11 against a ten on that basis...right?

I'll agree with your following post that the decision on whether or not to double on 10 vs. 10 is REAL close, but I can't agree with the above. 11 is a much better hand. The card that guarantees you against any loss (and gives you a win instead of a push with a dealer 20, the most likely 2 card holding when he shows a 10) is now a 10 instead of an ace. That is 40 cards vs. 4 (well, close enough to that in a typical multi deck game). That's a significant difference.
