Hi Frank,
I use both skype and the new yahoo beta voice messenger. The skype quality can be fantastic (with headphones and microphone), but I seem to have a problem at the beginning of the call where there is some digital distortion of some sort. It usually doesn't last long, but it can be annoying.

The new beta yahoo voice messenger is fantastic quality from beginning to end of the call.

The reason I still use skype is that I can do conferences with up to 5 people (1 host, 4 others).

I do a lot of international calls, so both skype and yahoo have really helped with my phone bills.

Oh, the other reason I like yahoo is that the IMs can be archived. I haven't figured out how to archive skype IMs yet (or at least to recover them).

Skype is looking to get very involved with mesh wireless vendors, which could be a very interesting development.
