If all the people who count in the product marketplace know about the Microsoft FUD (as you so eloquently stated), then the fact that "the ANALYSTS don't know this, the STREET don't know this, the average CIO doesn't" matters very little, except perhaps to the short term share price movements of the respective stocks.

Analysts and investors don't buy products. In the long run, what matters is the products that get bought. What Novell needs to
concentrate on is getting their house in order, fixing their marketing, and getting their MS and NT killer products out in a timely manner. They are doing this, and in the long run, this will mean more value to the serious long term investors.

On the other hand, Novell seems to be (and rightly so) ignoring the short term investor outlook. A company would be (IMO) irresponsible to take actions designed primarily to make money for short term investors who are looking for quick profits either up or down. Someone who is in this stock looking for a quick 30-40% rise over a few months has no more credibility then a short looking for a quick 30-40% fall.
