James,

Thanks for a thoughtful reply. There was one portion that I felt needs a specific response:

I am making is that we have to see the chinks in the armor of the opposition (in the form of corrupt leaderships and entrenched exploitive interest) and develop a STRATEGY for prevailing. You do not beat your opposition by just opposing them at THEIR game. That approach leads to almost certain defeat.

I don't see a lack of "strategy" being the problem. We had a strategy to end the Viet Nam war, and we had a strategy to force Richard Nixon from office. That strategy involved having the mainstream media get up off their knees and play the role envisioned in minds of the Founding Fathers. That strategy involved a Congress that took the initiative with increasingly hostile votes regarding Viet Nam and the willingness to impeach Nixon.

What we don't lack today is strategy. What we lack is a mainstream media with a shred of decency or a Congress with any strength whatsoever to face down the rising tide of fascism taking the reins of power in America.

As one who manned the barricades and took the tear gassings during Viet Nam, I can personally attest that street protests didn't influence the American majority. In fact Nixon cynically manipulated this "silent majority" into a landslide victory against the anti-war candidate, George McGovern in 1972.

Realistically, it took the media and Congress to throw the bastards out in 1974. The people, as always, don't influence Washington nearly to the extent that Washington controls their lives.

I've done what I can as a community organizer to educate the public and oppose the Iraq war and the lies of 9/11. I've taken things about as far as I can here. Now it is really a matter of having our institutions, i.e. the media and Congress, revive themselves as vibrant forces in our system of "checks and balances". Recently they've been steamrolled by the Executive. Unfortunately, I don't see signs yet that Bush is crumbling. I could be wrong, but it still looks to me like the Bush Crime Family still has its hands on all the machinery of state.
