re : PAF.V - C$0.98 - Gold Exploration (old PR) panafrican.com Pan African's Dabolava Trenches Yield Anomalous Gold Results March 03, 2005
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--PAN AFRICAN MINING CORP. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that encouraging results have been obtained from its initial 600 meter trenching program in the Mountain of Gold area of the Dabolava region in the central plateau of western Madagascar. Trench #2 and Trench #3 near the village of Andimaka returned anomalous gold values over wide intervals. The trenching program was designed to identify geological structure and to assist in the location of surface manifestations of the mineralized trend suggested by French colonial and artisanal workings located along a generally East-West trending line for more than 10 km. along strike.
Trench #2 contained a weighted grade of 0.087 g/t Au over a sampled length of 78.8 meters with waste from gold workings not sampled between 70.5-74.5m and 91.5-94m; an interval between 55.5m-69m returned a weighted average of 0.321 g/t Au; and a sampled interval 88.5m to 90m returned a weighted grade of 2.355 g/t Au. Trench #3 averaged 0.062 g/t Au over a sampled length of 52.5m with the interval from 45m to 60m returning a weighted average of 0.167 g/t Au. The trenches were panel sampled at 1.5 meter intervals, with random chips collected over a panel of the trench floor or wall. When vein material was encountered, separate panels were sampled from the foot wall, hanging wall and vein, and were combined to yield weighted grade for the panel. Andre J. Audet, P.Eng., a qualified person as defined in NI 43-101, field supervised the initial trenching and drilling programs. Thereafter, the program was overseen by Australian geologist Brian Thiele and subsequently Gregory Sparks, P.Eng., qualified persons.
Samples from the trenching program are secured in the field and shipped to the Company's sample preparation facility in Antananarivo for crushing to 2mm. A 250-gram split of crushed material is obtained and shipped to ALS Chemex in Johannesburg, South Africa for pulverization to 75 microns. It is then forwarded to ALS Chemex in Vancouver, B.C., Canada for Au by Fire Assay, using a 30-gram sub-sample. Sample reject is stored at the Company's sample preparation facility for future reference and required due diligence and engineering audits. The remaining pulverized material is temporarily stored at ALS Chemex in Johannesburg and will be returned to the Company. Sample preparation is supervised by Ardito Martohardjono, Vice-President of Laboratory Services, formerly a sample preparation supervisor and branch manager for Bondar Clegg and ALS Chemex. The Company’s consultants have used Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd. in Vancouver as a referee laboratory.
The Company has retained Dynatec to complete a reconnaissance diamond-drilling program in the Dabolava region. Drilling is underway and approximately 1200 meters of an anticipated 1800-2200 meter Phase 1 Program have been completed. Drill core has been cut or split in the field and submitted to the Company's sample preparation facility in Antananarivo. Samples are presently being prepped for shipment to ALS Chemex in Vancouver, B.C. for assay.
