Don't take this personal, Philo, but I feel "mean" has something going for it.
After all, "there's no rim holes in this thing", while common usage, is an improper economy of syllables.
"No rim holes" isn't a real singular. "The absence of rim holes" would remove the ambiguity, but imo it violates a proper economy of syllables.
No dogs cross this highway.
No rim holes mean easier cleaning.
No rim hole means easier cleaning.
