I did not change my story. I wouldn't use the term liberal because not all four of the justices who supported elections were liberal. but yes, she was told by them that they would go public with her deliberations in the Bush/Gore case, which were entirely based on not wanting Gore to pick her replacement. This would have been a scandal, and she delayed her retirement to avoid the scandal.
