Unfortunately i agree with your assessment. Someone quoted a brit security guy as saying this attack was by "our north african friends" meaning moroccans algerians etc. These groups are usually loosely affiliated to al quaeda groups. We have kept al quaeda pretty busy for 4 years now but I dont think that there wont be other attempts at a more spectacular attack. There is talk of a growing Taliban/AlQueda presence again this spring in afganistan--20k fighters. How do we take these folks out and get to the heart of the al quaeda problem. I dont think Special Forces can do that kind of job alone.
Also the brits, the paks and the egyptians should now be more fully involved in the fight in afganistan for the first two and iraq for egypt given the events of the past couple of days. I dont think we can do it alone. I havent even mentioned the Franco-German alliance.
