Al, It would not matter. The fight was justified in Afghanistan...Iraq is a most unfortunate and costly sidetrack.

Well I guess that settles it. "Nation-building" is indeed justified in many cases, and the terrorists are going to strike no matter what.

Since we're not going to pull out of Iraq until our part of the job is finished, I figure it's more counterproductive than anything else to use the London bombings as another opportunity to bash Bush, as if there is anyone who hasn't heard it all before.

Personally, I'm wondering how in the world we're going to protect the thousands and thousands of miles of mass transit, especially if that's supposed to help Western societies ween themselves off of oil. Maybe that's a good application of "imagination" that the Bush administration supposedly lacks. Too bad his political opponents don't have much of their own, either.
