The iraq war was portrayed as central to the WOT when it wasnt really but now it is and we are like the Boy who cried wolf. It was central. The WOT is the opposition of Al Qaeda's fantasy ideology AND the terror-master states against the modern world. You can't fight such a fight if you leave a Saddam alive and triumphant over the West even after he's lost a war, and granting aid and assistance to every terrorist group he can. That feeds right into jihadi philosophy. See? they say. The West may be rich, but they are too soft to lose men or even finish off an enemy when they have him helpless. We can take them on.
