You might want to revisit the ends and means argument.

Simply stated my position is that: "The means are not justified by the end."

Most tyrannical rulers do engage in all kinds of awful 'bad guy' behavior, which they justify by the fact that it enables them to maintain the status quo of their power. Saddam was such a ruler.

Absolutely and it is a noble fight to defeat them and what they stand for, not to prove we are better at what they do.
