"Same position that I have.

Maybe we would have to push each other some more to see if any differences remain. But I disagree with your characterisations of torture.

I can not consider self defense against an active threat, to be torture; Or when dealing with a violent agent with his thumb on the trigger. If I have to twist his arm to get it off the trigger and to save my daughter so be it. That includes if the trigger is on his tongue instead of in his hand. Every instance of me inflicting pain on him does not have to be labeled torture.

"...you would be accused of torture (and not accused of removing an active threat).

ooooo ... Add that to the list of other lame, false accusations that get thrown my way so I can go ... "fsssttt", some more.

I think most people have a real clear picture of what qualifies as torture, which is causing severe pain and suffering, and inflicting harm, in an effort to learn what ever the victim may know, useful or not. Let's keep it that simple and not waste a bad word on things more noble.
