"I don't think that anyone should go to jail for providing the press with information"

You don't even understand the situation. The act of 'providing the press with information' IS THE CRIME. You're saying that no one should go to jail for committing a crime as long as it was a crime committed while talking to a reporter?

That's utter nonsense.

We do not know what the prosecutor knows but apparently it's serious enough that the judges agreed to get the information out of Miller and Cooper. Besides, Cooper received a pass to testify before the grand jury and apparently Miller did as well although that's not clear.

Cooper chose, therefore, to testify. Why shouldn't he? He received a pass. The question is, why didn't Miller? If she received a pass (as it looks like she did) but decided to go to jail instead of testifying before a grand jury, that's HER CHOICE.

Do you think reporters are, in 100% of cases when they're reporting on something, above the law? The commentator from the Chicago Tribune, debating with Miller's boss, said that in 98% of the cases protection would apply. He also said that Miller SHOULD NOT HAVE given an agreement of confidentiality in this case.

He agreed with the judge because of the seriousness of the case and the apparent inability to get the information any other way. The guy from the NYTimes clearly could not defend the position of his paper. He hemmed and hawed and looked pretty ridiculous.

Where is classified information being passed around like candy? Where?

If you see it, why aren't you calling the FBI?
