I don't know if I am supposed to feel bad about fishing or not. So, I choose not.

I choose to look at the whole picture and write it my way. The fish locate themselves in currents and eddies of the river. Suspended in three dimensions they dart whatever direction they need to acquire their food.

And trout are very picky about their food. To fool them into thinking that a barbless hook is really their dinner requires a special ability acquired with many hours of observation, practice and knowledge. To fool them consistently into thinking that what I am presenting them with in their current requires dedication approaching that an artist has with creating a wonderfully composed and executed painting.

So, I perfect my art.

I saw a underground cartoon in 69 at a late night art cinema theatre. Think it was in hollywood.

This fat man was fishing on a the seashore. He would eat a sandwich with every fish he caught. He caught a lot. He ran out of sandwiches. He kept catching fish and looking to his left saw a sandwich laying on the beach. He ran over, picked it up and bit into it.

A giant hook popped out of his cheek and out in the ocean a gigantic shark came up from the waves with a fishing rod and reel in his fins. The shark was reeling in the fat man off the beach and through the water.

I never eat sandwiches when I fish.

I know those fish get tired of seeing me. I am training them very well to not eat poor imitations of reality. Its a zen thing. Perhaps soon I will perfect myself and fishing will not be necessary to my existence. Till then, I will try as hard as possible to let go of this habit. In fact, I will take every opportunity possible.
