Bob Keeps his Word, Not Clothes

Daily Express journalist Bob McKenzie paid for his criticism of McLaren last year when he completed a naked run around Silverstone before the race on Sunday.

Scot McKenzie, who said last season that he would run around Silverstone naked if McLaren won a race in 2004, completed the feat dressed in a thong and sporran and painted in McLaren livery.

Forced to undertake the run in front of 100,000 racegoers rather than in private on a windy winters afternoon, he completed the 5.141km circuit, with some short cuts, in around 35 minutes.

He reached the finish straight just as the drivers came around on their truck to complete the drivers' parade and collapsed face down on the floor from all his exertions.

"I've honoured the challenge," said McKenzie, whose effort raised thousands of pounds for a childrens' charity. "Even on the way round, marshals were coming up and giving money.

"I was hoping that they would arrest me but they kept saying 'Go on, go on.'"
