To any DSP-knowledgeable folks out there,

Is the 56300 family of DSP chips from Motorola one of the most popular and/or most used DSPs available? Anyone have any numbers on how many 56300's are in use, or on how many are projected to be used in the future?

Who are the major players in DSP? It looks like Motorola and TI are involved. Are they the biggest? What others are there? Are there any purely DSP companies?

Lots of questions. :) Thanks for any answers.

Jim
