"I disagree with the idea that the world was a better place with Saddam in power..."

Me too, without a doubt!

But, that doesn't mean that the 'world will be a better place' with a destablized Iraq churning out hordes of battle-tested terrorists, and the radical Wa'habbists in Saudi Arabia using the American involvement in their neighbor as a rallying cry for the recruiting of more and ever more radicals, bombers, and Sunni insurgents, sending ever more funding to support them....

It also doesn't mean that a Shiite ruled 'Iraq' being allied in a defense pact with Iran is necessarily in our interests, either.

(Or that a prolonged US occupation of Iraq, with US troops interposed between the warring Sunni and Shia, with a veritable target 'painted on our backs' is necessarily in our best interests, either.)
