Right-o. What would happen if tomorrow morning we removed all furrin troops (that would be us) from the entire Middle East? What would happen?

Would there be more than 500 terrorist bombs in Iraq in the next year? Would the Kurds be more likely to stage a quiet divorce? Would the Iraqi government be more friendly with Iran than it already is?

If so, so what?

The US goes decades ahead, out of necessity, in dealing with the declining world oil reserves...so what?

What is the most probable outcome versus the most probable outcome if we continue to support the oil industry using the US Military? In the future, are we going to invade China if they decide not to manufacture our goods anymore and get more chummy with Europe instead?

The US has such a weak position in the world.
