Since my family and I are from humble backgrounds and no one I'm related to ever received any assistance from any government yet have managed to take care of ourselves, even manage some upward economic movement, by working and saving, I conclude that it is possible to do so. Ever hear of the earned income tax credit? Amounts to a reverse income tax for folks who work at low income jobs. A product of the Reagan administration.
