My radio station is rocking out too well to go to bed, so a story...C'est la Vie, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell....
My favorite homeless patient was in the hospital again the last time I worked. He's been a patient on and off for as long as I've been there.First time I saw him, he scared the bejebbers outta me; he was 5 years older than I was, and looked about 20. Now, he still looks 70, but like he is only 10 years older than I am. I'm in trouble. Anyway, we connected back then; I thought he was just one more crazy 'Nam vet, and I say that with the affection of having been at the VA for 10 years. They're my guys. Well, I found out yesterday that the guy owns a ranch in Colorado, currently being managed by his niece. He loves being homeless. He won't sleep in shelters; he loves sleeping under bridges and such. I think his medical bills are paid thru the niece (beyond Medicare and VA, if any). It was pointed out to me that he, if not necessarily his clothes, is always clean. He just chooses to live the life of a homeless person. Sez someday he will head back to the ranch, but, for now...
to him, from the Dead's chick singer,...
If God had a name, what would it be And would you call it to his face If you were faced with him in all his glory What would you ask if you had just one question
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
What if God was one of us Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Trying to make his way home
If God had a face what would it look like And would you want to see If seeing meant that you would have to believe In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets
And yeah yeah god is great yeah yeah god is good yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
What if God was one of us Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Trying to make his way home He's trying to make his way home Back up to heaven all alone Nobody calling on the phone Except for the pope maybe in rome
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
What if god was one of us Just a slob like one of us Just a stranger on the bus Trying to make his way home Just trying to make his way home Like a holy rolling stone Back up to heaven all alone Just trying to make his way home Nobody calling on the phone Except for the pope maybe in rome
