I guess we're hoping that these guys are the Muslim version of snake-handlers (marginalized) rather than the Muslim version of the Southern Baptists (powerful and getting stronger) . . . . can't help but think it's the latter rather than the former.

Still, there is good news for us, I think. None of the 9/11 attackers were assimilated Muslims living among us, but outsiders.

I get the impression that in Germany and France, outsiders, especially non-Europeans, have a tough time assimilating, they're never really accepted.

Sort of like the way Mexicans view blacks even after hundreds of years? (Those stamps, Fox's comments.)

Something about our culture seems to welcome outsiders. But we're not the Borg, they can retain a lot of differences and still be welcome.
