Pride International Inc. Receives Petroleo Brasileiro Contracts Worth Up to $600 Million

HOUSTON (AP) -- Drilling contractor Pride International Inc. said late Tuesday it has received two contracts worth up to $600 million from Petroleo Brasileiro SA for offshore work in Brazil.

Under the five-year contracts, Pride will operate four Amethyst-class deep water semisubmersibles for a day rate of about $141,000, plus a potential 15 percent performance bonus. Pride also said it expects to earn about $9,000 per rig, per day in fees from the company's joint venture that manages the Pride Rio de Janeiro and Pride Portland rigs. Pride owns 30 percent of the joint venture.
