I am always amused by the media making news and then reporting it as though it were real news.
This became evident again in the Karl Rove situation. Whatever you think about that, the NYT headlining a story about how the White House is refusing to answer reporters questions is amusing.
The core of the story, if you read it carefully, is this:
We asked a barrage of questions. They chose not to answer them.
Now, if the reporters hadn't asked any questions, the story wouldn't have existed. So the whole story was created out of the actions of the media. They initiated the questions, they demanded the answers, they didn't get them, they got their dudgeon up, they created a story out of it. A total creation of the media.
I can't possibly count the number of times I have asked questions of people and been ignored, or been told that it was none of my business. This isn't news. This is just normal human behavior.
But of course, the NYT thinks it has some non-God-given (can't be God given since that would affend the atheists, and the NYT can't do that) right to have any question they ask instantly answered. So to them, if somebody doesn't instantly answer their question, that's worth making a front page story of.
