LONDON BLAME GAME

NEW YORK POST

Arnold Ahlert
July 12, 2005

IT didn't take leftists much time to figure out who was responsible for the London bombing: George W. Bush and Tony Blair — not Islamo-fascist thugs.

Their logic: If we had "just left Iraq alone" (and, for some, Afghanistan as well), the jihadists would have remained as peaceful as little lambs.

This "Do Not Disturb" approach to confronting terror is the essence of appeasement. It is like having a hornet's nest right outside your front door — and deciding the best way to "solve" the problem is killing the individual bees that attack you — but leaving the nest intact.

This is the ultimate "pass the buck" to our children, as in every terrorist organization and support structure we leave intact now is one more that will target future generations — with more sophisticated weaponry.

It's also the epitome of historical ignorance. A complacent Europe allowed Nazism to gather lethal strength before they figured out Hitler was not appeasable. Do we need to once again learn the exact same lesson that resulted in the deaths of millions?

"Do Not Disturb" is as morally bankrupt now as it was then. Those who embrace it demonstrate an incredible misunderstanding of human nature — and terrorist determination.
