Absurd - not so fast my friend. It has already happened right here in the US back in 1980. The treasury was unable to sell its debt because no-one showed up to buy it. The result was a massive increase in interest rates and then the buyers came back but at a significant cost to both the treasury and the economy.

We call all delude ourselves like Dick Cheney and pretend that deficits don't matter but they do.
