Durbin was in this years fourth of July parade here in Evanston. Evanston is a tree hugger, birkenstock kind of place and we typically get more than our fair share of politicians on the fourth. Anyway, he walked down Central street surrounded by about a dozen reasonably sturdy men, all wearing the same shirts. It was noticeable enough that someone standing next to me commented that they didn't know senators got secret service protection. They were probably off duty cops. Another thing in that parade that I've never seen was that the Democratic party walked by carrying posters of GWB and Chenney dressed up in clown outfits. Didn't seem to be the right place for that. Anyway, no charge for that. It was just in my head and it bothered me. ARS
