Jim,

I agree with your assesment that Wintel poses a threat to Sun at
the low end now, and at the high end with P7 (64 bit) Merced chip
in a few years. I recently owned both INTC and SUNW but sold the
INTC. I still love INTC but I am pretty confident that SUNW can
grab A LOT/MOST of the medium/large intranet/ineternet server business
for now as they offer the best solutions. That could change in the future
if Sun is unable to match Wintel in terms of delievering cost effective
and innovative solutions.

As to the stock split, I see this: Sun announced record backlogs
at the end of last quarter, they said their newest products are
selling like hot cakes, they announced large sales to China and
several universities recently, they aquired several small companies
last year with, I presume the intent of making their H/W industrial/
mainframe reliable, they have a management team that does not appear
to be selling the stock, and then, they announced a stock split
when the shares are only trading at 55ish.

I wonder if they know something we don't?

Cheers,
Daniel
