While we continue to await your "nuanced" solution to this mess, some on this thread now want to level Mecca. Some Brits are now thinking about this as well.

What are you going to tell them? That they're falling for Osama's grand master plan? That's just as useful as a street preacher telling the passers-by that they're going to hell, and just as useful as someone on the shore telling a drowing person that they're going to die.

Oh, I love it. Three years shouting opposition to this blind idiocy and now this.

There ain't no solution. There never was one that lived in harmony with unilateral, pre-emptive war, particularly ones whose justification was false. That was the point from the getgo. Now we live with these lunatics for at least a generation...and that's hoping for a little more intellect in some future adminstration. We won't nuke nor gas them, despite the urge by angry wing nuts. Now we live looking over our shoulders and picking dead people out of subways and sidewalks every now and then.
