For what it's worth, I don't think the inventory build in itself is a sign that prices will soon start dropping. If these people don't get what they want, most of them can just take their homes off the market.

I don't think it will really drop significantly until there are more "motivated" sellers (ie those who can't afford to keep their houses) due to mortgage resets or job losses. So far there aren't a lot of these.
