My sincere THANKS to each of you who have sent such wonderful notes of friendship because of the passing of my Mom. Her funeral was yesterday, and was what she wanted. It was about 45 minutes at graveside, sunny and warm with a bit of a breeze, with wonderful words from the Pastor...all of us had written some memories which I read, as they couldn't do it....most were funny memories which made all of us feel better...She loved music, and we chose Amazing Grace (will have to find who performed this version...'twas beautiful!) and then Mom's favorite was Sinatra's "I Did It MY WAY".... And that was certainly true....she really did it "her way!"...
I had made Memory boards, and a scrapbook, which was well received, and gave everyone, and all the kids, a different idea of her life rather than the narrow one they had before....
We had a reception following, and then our getting-to-be-large family went to a nice, cozy, and quiet "pub" were we could all just talk and have a drink before everyone had to go on their way again...all directions over the US.
Mom would have enjoyed it too...and we will all miss her. |
