That article seems to make sense, but there are so many unknowns in the future. You can never count out China's old enemy, Japan, firmly in US camp. Japan has the money, technology & people to be a counterbalance to China. All that is lacking is resolve. And from some of the recent statements, resolve is gathering. Japanese/Chinese long standing border issues are gaining in importance because in some cases oil and resources are involved.

In terms of warfare, the history of Japan and China are very different. Economically, I agree that China will cast a big shadow over Japan in due time.
